Taking a tour through England’s beautiful countryside cannot be complete without a visit to the breathtaking Somerset County. Somerset is in the South West of England, and it is famous for being one of the most beautiful counties of the British Isles. The capital of Somerset County, or County Town as it’s referred to, is Taunton. Visiting Taunton is best by car, as the town is currently undergoing a massive reconstruction and refitting of its facilities, so public transport can get a little confusing. Taunton is known for its beautiful parks, the most famous being Vivary park. Built in the site of an ancient fish farm, also known as vivarium, it has the Queen Victoria Memorial Fountain in the center, which is worth a visit for itself.
Other notable tourist attractions in Taunton include Goodlands Park, Taunton Priory and Taunton Castle. The city itself is a landmark by itself, with amazing Tudor buildings, that are among the best preserved in the country.
